reach championship game

regulation and losing shootout 3-2.

Game Highlights
January 21-23rd
─
Raccoons shutout Lakeview Centennial 2-0 on Thursday.
Scoring our
first goal was Rudolfo Rodriguez with an assist by Kofi Halliday.
The second goal was by Dylan Sammarco assisted by Tyler
Radcliffe.
On Friday the
Raccoons beat McKinney Boyd
2-1 at the Broncos’ Home Field. The defense played tough
after giving up a first half goal and the game ended 1-1.
Scoring FHS’s goal was Kofi Halliday on a corner kick assist
from Mo Matehuala.
In the shootout,
Mitch Kilmer was brilliant in the goal as he shutout Boyd on 4
attempts – scoring dribble up shots for the Raccoons were Tyler and Mo.
The two wins
advanced the Raccoons to
the Toyota Cup Final game against the Hebron Hawks.
After playing in a rain drenched scoreless draw the
Raccoons again went to a
shootout. Unfortunately
the boys came up one goal short of the Championship Trophy and came
home with the Finalist Trophy. Mo and Dylan Sammarco had dribble up
scores for the Raccoons.
Though disappointed with the final outcome the team continued its
excellent team play as they gave up only 1 regulation goal in their
3 games.
The Lady Raccoons
started strong on Thursday with a 6-0 win again Ft. Worth
Eastern Hills. The
scoring was started by
Bethany
Cornille’s first goal of her Varsity career, and was followed by
goals by Katie O'Malley (2), Taylor Graves, Celine Fletcher’s first
Varsity goal, and Casey Colbert.
Earning assists were Kristina, Katie, and Amy Franklin.
The Lady Raccoon Defense did not allow any shots on goal and
made life easy for goalies Kayla Wilkinson and Jordan Little.
On Friday the
Lady Raccoons came up short against their arch rival McKinney Lions
losing 3-0.
On Saturday, team came out strong as they won 5-0 against Tyler
Chapel Hill for the 3rd place among the
8-team field. The O’Malley sisters scored three goals (Katie
2 and Kristina 1) and Jessica Rodriguez and Taylor Graves score the
other two. Earning
assists were Katie, Kristina, Taylor Graves (2) and one by Bobbie
Gutierrez, her first of the season.
January 19th-
Raccoons vs.
Denton
at FHS. The
highlight of the evening was JV
Raccoon
Boys’ 2-0 victory as Dario
Blanco and Jorge Diaz del Rio each
scored with assists by Rudolfo Rodriguez and Joey Dobson.
The Varsity Raccoons could not convert their many shots on goal and came up
short against Denton
3-2. Luiz Almeida scored
FHS’s two goals. The
first was assisted by Mo, the second was on the a PK.
Lady Raccoons
vs. Highland Park.
There was little to write about as the Varsity
lost 6-0 and the JV lost 8-0.
January 14-16
Raccoon
Boys Win Share of Championship at the Denton Iron Bridge Classic
Tournament -
Raccoons shutout Little Elm
2-0 Saturday evening.
After winning their bracket with 3 wins the boys were scheduled to
play Newman-Smith in the championship game.
But because the Trojans are a District foe and the teams will
play twice in the coming weeks, the Raccoons were pitted against
Little Elm. After a
scoreless first half,
Raccoon Tri-Captains, Mo Matehuala and Tyler Radcliffe teamed up in
the 50th minute to score, as Mo received a great feed
from Tyler.
In the 63rd minute, Luis Almeida was fouled in the
penalty box, and Mo’s PK scored the Raccoon’s second and insurance
goal. Mitch Kilmer had
another great game in the goal.
The defensive line led by the Raccoon’s third captain,
Eric Johnson, plus Matt Carroll, Austin Allen, Sebastian (Sebass)
Piras and Kevin Campos teamed together to shut down all of the Lobos
threats.
Saturday morning the Raccoons held off
Irving
3-2. Scoring for the
Raccoons were Dylan Sammarco, Kofi Halliday and
Mo.
The goals were assisted by Eric Johnson, Kyle Fischer and
Tyler Radcliffe.
Friday night the Raccoons
beat Longview Pine Tree 2-1. Scoring the first goal for the
Raccoons was Dylan Sammarco with an assist from Kyle Fischer in
the 26th minute.
The Raccoon’s winning goal was deftly put in the net
by fan favorite, Kofi Halliday, after receiving the ball on a
combination play involving Omar Perez and Aaron Bradford.
Thursday night,
the Raccoons opened
the tournament with their third shutout win of the season as they
beat Lake Dallas
2-0. Dylan Sammarco was
credited with the first goal at the 39th minute.
Dylan had a nice shot from the right side that ricocheted off
at least two Falcons.
The Raccoon’s defense kept the ball out of its end of the
field most of the game and Mitch Kilmer stopped and knocked away the
Falcons’ several corner kick opportunities.
In the 70th minute, newcomer Kofi Halliday took a
great cross from Jared Shalek and made an excellent move around the
defender and easily beat the goalie for the second goal.
Raccoon
JV Gold at the Denison-Sherman JV Cup. Thursday, the JV Gold team opened
their season losing 3-2 to Anna who ended up advancing to the
Championship game. The
boys played tough throughout the match but came up a goal short.
Frisco’s goals were scored by Carlos Penaloza and Johnny Nunn. The assists were by Edwin Aguilar
and Rahul Patel.
Friday, the JV
Gold beat Lake Dallas JV 8-2. Joey Dobson led the way with two
goals. Johnny Nunn had a goal and two assists. Edwin Aguilar and
Kevin Signo had a goal and an assist. Josh Garcia, Jorge Diaz del
Rio and Mike Huckabee scored once. Sixto Arevalo had two
assists and Ryan Radcliffe added one.
On Saturday
morning, JV Gold beat Denison 2-1.
Kevin Signo and Jorge Diaz del Rio scored the goals for Frisco. Johnny Nunn assisted both
goals. The JV Gold finished
the tournament with a 2-1 record.
The team just missed out on advancing to the Championships
rounds.
Lady Raccoons at the Plano
Tournament of Champions.
Varsity Girls had a tough opening match on Friday morning.
Playing in the rain and against
the eventual tournament
Champion, 5A Flower Mound, the girls lost 4-0.
In their second game of the day, the
Lady Raccoons almost knocked off Plano East,
but came up a goal short in a 2-1 loss.
Bobbie
Gutierrez scored her first goal of the season and was assisted by
Taylor Graves.
Saturday morning, the Lady
Raccoons
won the Consolation Trophy by shutting out
Corsicana
3-0 at Clark Stadium.
Scoring for Frisco were
Taylor Graves from Katie O'Malley, Taylor
Borland also from Katie, and then Katie scored with
an assist from Nicole Kaeser.
Kayla Wilkinson and the defense earned their second shutout
of the season. Earning
All Tournament team recognition was Bobbie Gutierrez.
Lady
Raccoon JV team
advanced to the Championship game of the Denison-Sherman JV Cup by
beating Denison 1-0 and
Paris
2-0 before falling to John Paul 2-1 in the Championship game.
Against Denison,
Brooke Eddleman scored on a PK at the 13th minute and
Ashley Boren and the Lady
Raccoon defense shut out the Yellowjackets.
Saturday afternoon against
Paris, Morgan Jones scored the first goal and
then Brooke Eddleman scored the insurance goal on an assist from
Shayley Swanson. In the
Championship game, Kelley Hickman scored on an assist from Morgan.
January 12th

Girls vs. McKinney North at FHS -
At the FHS field, The Lady Raccoons beat McKinney North 2-1.
Katie O’Malley scored her third goal of the season on an
assist from Taylor Graves.
In the 69th minute, Casey Colbert scored her
second goal of the season on another assist from
Taylor.
The JV Girls played their first match of the season and lost a tough
match 2-0. Ashley Boren
had 8 saves and Brooke Eddleman had several shots of goal for the
FHS girls
Boys vs. Greenville at PHP Main Stadium -
Playing
in the PHP Main Stadium the Raccoons shutout Greenville 3-0.
Tyler Radcliffe had 2 goals, his second and third of the
season. Assists for
these two goals were by Mo Matehuala and Jared Shalek. The third
goal was a PK by Dylan Sammarco which was awarded as a result of a
handball on a shot in the box by Luis Almeida.
Mitchell Kilmer, Freshman goalie, and the Raccoon Defense
earned their second shutout of the season
The Raccoon JVs played their season
opener and are the first FISD JV team to play in the PHP Main
Stadium. The boys took
advantage of the opportunity and overwhelmed the Greenville JV by
the score of 8-0. Eleven
different players were involved in the 8 FHS goals.
Joey Dobson scored twice. Ryan Radcliffe, Rudolfo Rodriguez, Billy
Deschaw, Ngigi Muriithi, Jorge Diaz del Rio,
and Maddy Dye scored one goal apiece.
The assists were credited to Edwin Aguilar, Jonathan Nunn,
and Sammy Coleman who each had two assists, while Dario Blanca and
Joey Dobson each had one assist.
Cody Pruitt and Austin Rios secured the shutout in goal.
January 9th

PINK INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT:
The bitter cold temperatures that arrived in Frisco on Thursday
resulted in cancellation to the tournament format.
On Saturday, conditions improved which allowed the
Raccoons to play two
friendly matches while the Lady
Raccoons Varsity played a single game.
The Lady Raccoons opened their season by beating Heritage HS,
Frisco’s newest HS team, by a score of 8-0
Scoring two goals each Senior Captains, Taylor Graves and Katie
O’Malley, Scoring single
goals were Senior Jessica Rodriguez, and three Freshmen newcomers -
Celine Fletcher, Casey Colbert and Kailee Hervey.
Goalkeepers for this shutout win were Sophomore-Kayla
Wilkerson and Freshman-Jordan Little.
In their first match, the Raccoons
shutout the Palo Duro Dons 3-0.
Luis Almeida scored a hat trick in this season opener.
The assists for the Almeida goals were the Raccoons’ Senior
Captains, Mo Matehuala, Eric Johnson and Tyler Radcliffe.
The strong defense was anchored by Freshman goalie, Mitchell
Kilmer
In the second game, the Raccoons
lost 2-1 in a physical battle against Wichita Fall Rider.
Frisco’s goal was scored by Freshman newcomer Kofi Halliday
with an assist by Jared Shalek, a Junior.
